Introduction to the Study and Practice of Contemporary Christian Spirituality

This course examines contemporary Christian spirituality as both lived experience and academic discipline. As lived experience, spirituality is the self-transcending integration of the human person through engaging with what is ultimate as one perceives it. You will build the capacity to develop beyond yourself in relationship with others and with God in understanding, liberty and love. Spirituality as an academic discipline is interdisciplinary in nature and endeavours to study religious experience and to promote its development and maturation. This introductory course combines reading, discussion, lectures and reflective exercises.
